enable Windows 2k3 volume shadow copy

  1. enable the "Volume Shadow Copy" in [Control Panel][Administrative Tools]Services.
  2. run diskmgmt.msc from StartRun…
  3. right click the disk drive you want to enable VSS, select Properties than select the "Shadow Copies" tab to enable VSS on that drive.
  4. browse to \localhostdrv_num$, where drv_num is the disk drive enabled VSS, you can see the folder properties has one new tab called Previous Version:

or use a third-party gui tool, ShadowExplorer:http://www.shadowexplorer.com/
